Anton Andalus

Traditional photography cannot be expected of Anton Andalus. His photography is characterised by subtle compositions which abstract from prosaicness in order to place emphasis on the emotional perspective. The Bulgarian attended the National Academy for Theatre and Cinema in Sofia and was a master student in Katharina Sieverding’s class at the Berlin University of the Arts. Fascinated by the fast-paced dynamics of advertising Anton focused in this direction early on. Having been first assistant to Olaf Blecker for many years, the young photographer learnt to hold his ground in the jungle of production and ever since has mastered it in a confident manner. His cinematic roots are consistently noticeable. Anton creates a self-contained and expressive subject in each of his images. His multi-facetted portfolio draws the viewer into stirring mystical scenes only to demand poignant silence the very next moment.
